Smile Design Gallery “Smile Auction”

Around 200 people gather at the Gansevoort (Meatpacking District) last night, for “Smile Auction”.  Alexander Gilkes, Co-Founder of Paddle 8  (a company specializing in celebrity auctioneer), hosted an art auction that help benefit Smile Design Gallery.  A host of celebrities (Swizz Beatz,  Angela Simmons, and more), CEOs, and other movers-and-shakers in NYC were all in the building, biding on the art work created by artists such as Robert Peterson, Chi Modu, Takashi Murakami, a special piece done by Swizz Beatz, and many more.  They had a silent auction going on and a live auction for some of the more popular pieces (one piece went for over $20,000).

All proceeds went to Smile Design Gallery, a social enterprise that provides free dental to people in need.  They work with different non-profits around NYC, like The Bowery Mission, Urban Promise and WSFSSH, to help render their services.  They have support from celebrities like Swizz Beatz, Angela Simmons, and Kris Humphries.  It was started by Dr. Lee Gause, a doctor who is well known for his charitable work.  He is a participant in the Invisalign Study Club of New York, founder of Smile Factory, co-founder of Celebrities for Smiles, and has done over $50,000 of charitable dentistry to date.

The event was great!  There were a lot of influential people in the building and no one was shy about bidding.  Probably one of the most exclusive events I have been too, they didn’t even allow professional cameras in the main area (yes I snuck some pictures on my phone for you, below).  The art was great, it was more what I call new generation art, a lot of abstract art, photographs and paintings of this generation icons (Tupac, Ali, Elvis, and more), and other great pieces.  A lot of networking, bidding, and popping bottles was definitely going on!  Glad to have been in such an inspirational room, it actually made me want to get back to blogging more!

That’s right, I am coming back in full effect babe!!!!!!!!!!
