French Montana’s “Excuse My French” Album Listening Party

I have a tiny secret, one of my guilty pleasures is listening to ratchet rap.  So when I heard French Montana was having an album listening party, for his debut album “Excuse My French” (out May 21st), I hoped on it real quick!  He is ignorant (in a good sense) and ghetto and I love it!  The Bad Boy signee and MMG affiliate did not disappoint.

Held at HiLo in the Meatpacking District, the “Coke Boyz” where in full effect and the Ciroc was flowing.  DJ SNS was spinning all of Montana’s hits and other classic NY hits.  Eve was even in the building to support her fellow rapper.  Once Montana got in the building, the listening session began.  Though I could not make out a lot of the lyrics (due to problems with the speakers and where I was sitting), the content seemed to do its job and get me hyped.

“Excuse My French” has Montana’s hit singles “Pop That” ft Drake, Rick Ross, & Lil’ Wayne and “Freaks” ft Nicki Minaj.  The album also has features from The Weeknd, Raekwon, Ne-Yo, Snoop Dogg, Scarface, Diddy, 2 Chainz, and many more.  A lot of people say Montana is a feature album and can’t hold a song on his own but he definitely had a few bangers by himself on there.  Personally I liked it, although he is not the most lyrical , doesn’t talk about substance, he doesn’t sell that about himself.  He has found his nitch, which is ratchet music and that is what he gives you; stuff that will get you hype and make you want act out (in a positive way).

So yeah he might not give you music that will make you think, but sometimes you don’t want to think.  From the stuff I could hear I would say my favorite songs where “Gifted” ft The Weeknd, “Drink Freely” ft Rico Love, & “Ain’t Worried About Nothin”.  Don’t forget to get the album when it drops on May 21st or pre-order it now on Itunes. I challenge you to listen to this album and not say “HAAANNN” at least one time, lol.
