Big Boi’s ‘Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors’ Album Listening Party

I guess someone has been drinking their “kryptonite”.  The man who has sold over 20 million albums, won countless awards, and is 1/2 of one the most famous groups in hip-hop history is back!  You guessed it, the person who told everyone to move to the back of the bus, rapper Big Boi (of Outkast).  Just in time for the holiday season the ATLien is dropping his newest solo effort and is going back to his roots.

On Tuesday, I went to his album listening party for his newest album, Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors (out Dec 11th).  The event was at Converse Rubber Tracks (same place The Fader + Converse had their event at about 2 weeks ago) in Williamsburg.  It was sponsored by Stoli Vodka and a lot of music fans were in the house to get a sneak peak at the album.  Big Boi performed some of his new material for us and blessed us with some classics as well.  He then took his seat, grabbed his drink and let us enjoy some of the other tracks from the album.

The album sounds great, especially the production.  Listening to this album made me think of why so many people, myself included, fell in love with Outkast and The Dungeon Family.  The production is reminiscent of the now classic sound that put OutKast on the map on Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik and ATLiens.  I am sure no true Outkast/Big Boi fan will be disappointed (and we all know they have MANY).  My favorite song off the album is “In The A” which features T.I. & Ludacris; it is definitely a club banger.  His new single, “Mama Told Me” (video below), with Kelly Rowland just came out and is already creating a buzz.

The event was good and his music was even better! Let me know what you think and if you will be getting Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors on Dec 11th?
