‘Fashion X Music’

I was in the 212 then I went to the 718 on the L train to hipsterville WillyBurgs, so you know what’s upper don’t you!?

Do you like my imitation of the hit song “212” by up-and-coming hip hop artist Azelia Banks? I should be signed right?

Okay enough with displaying my rhyming skills, LOL. Last night Spin Magazine & Refinery29 joined forces to put on a “Fashion X Music” event/party.  As most of you know this is Fashion Week, so as you can guess, NYC is pretty insane right now! This event brought together all the NY trendsetters in order to chit chat about one main thing: “which fashion show are you attending?”

Held at the Wythe hotel in Williamsburg, BK and presented by Virgin Mobile this was the place to be!  The Brooklyn punk group Hunter and Azealia Banks (my ‘212’ version is better than hers) both performed! Whitney Port from The Hills & The City (don’t tell anyone but she is actually one of the reasons I wanted to move to NY) and music group MDNR were in attendance.  The bar was open (liqueur was provided by American based Vodka brand ‘Tito’s’, pretty damn great if I say so myself); so what more could you possibly ask for?

The place was packed with fashionistas and istos, but I knew it would be.  I mean, fashion powerhouse company, Refinery29 and magazine powerhouse company, Spin, can bring in the elite by themselves.  So just imagine what happens when they combine forces!?  Everyone was there and seemed to be really enjoying themselves. The crowd went crazy for both artists, which is great because though they are both New York natives, they are still very different.  I saw the same heads that were trashing to Hunter’s punk sound, rapping along to Azealia’s fast rhymes.

It was a great event and I am glad I was able to attend.  I overheard someone say this is Spin’s last print out magazine issue and they are going 100% digital.  So I suggest you go get a copy and frame it! You never know what it will be worth!
