BlackAtlas.com Announces Laz Alonso As Ambassador

Harlem has always been full of elites, but Friday night BlackAtlas.com brought out the best of the best.  BlackAtlas.com held a gathering to announce their new celebrity ambassador the very talented actor Laz Alonso (Avatar, Jumping The Broom, and many more) at the Studio Museum in Harlem.  With drinks provided by Xante and performances by The Rakeim Walker Band and Melanie Fiona, this was definitely the place to be.

BlackAtlas.com is an interactive social travel-networking site by American Airlines.  It is a website that allows people (primarily of color) to share traveling experiences (through testimony, video, and photos) with each other.  They have info on destinations from around world, from Los Angeles to Cape Town to Beijing.  Though they do post their own articles, most of the content comes from normal every day people, like you and me.  As you know before you go on any vacation, you call around and ask all your friends to see what are the best places to visit while on vacation; this site saves you the time and trouble.  The more people who join the more stories about different destinations will be posted, so join!

Laz is well qualified for this title, he is a very well spoken and an educated man.  He spoke about how minorities (esp the African-American community) rarely travel outside the United States and when they do travel they rarely go outside the resorts.  He stressed the importance of getting out the states and exploring different communities and educating yourself about the different cultures in this world. This is exactly what BlackAtlas.com is here for, to help people learn where to go while on vacation to get that experience.

A lot of people came out to see Mr. Alonso, including blogger Necole Bitchie, TV personality Tanika Ray, actor  Robert Townsend (The Parent Hood),  VH1 reality stars Jennifer Williams (Basketball Wives), Somaya Recce (Love & Hip Hop),  and Renee Graziano (Mob Wives).  Of course Melanie Fiona tore the house down as usual, but the real shocker was how good The Rakeim Walker Band was, I will definitely be adding them to my iTunes.

Overall it was great event, with influential people to mingle with.  I had a blast and I hope to see you on BlackAtlas.com 🙂 … Until the next event xoxo…
