THE JACOB’S CURE ‘DREAM BIG’ GALA
Last night I had the honor of attending a HUGE event, The Jacob’s Cure ‘Dream Big’ Gala, held at Cipriani on Wall Street. The event was hosted by Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb and honored TV personality and advertising executive Donny Deutsch; Grey Goose Cherry Noir and Gotham Magazine were the sponsors. This was definitely a whose who event, talk about rubbing elbows with the right people.
Since September 2010, the non-profit Jacob’s Cure has helped raises funds and educate people on the fight against Canavan disease. Now most people, including me, have probably never heard of this disease (don’t try to act like you knew about it to make me feel stupid lol). I learned that Canavan disease is an inherited disorder that causes progressive damage to nerve cells in the brain, causing the body to not be able perform normal motor skills. This disease is usually caught at a very young age and is typically found (BUT DEFINITELY NOT LIMITED TO) people of Ashkenazi Jewish heritage. Most people affected with the disease do not live past childhood.
The event was packed with prominent people, seeing that the a single ticket was $500 and the most expensive $50,000, I had no doubt it wouldn’t be. Stars like Jessica White, Johnathan Cheban, Carla Facciolo (Mob Wives), and many more were in attendance. I mostly took pictures, so I didn’t mingle as much as I should have, but it was still very inspiring to be in a room with so many successful people. Seeing all these people get together for such a great cause, is always beautiful. Give me 10 years and I will be the one they are honoring (dream big right?)!
Check out my photos from the event below, most are red carpet pictures. Until next event xoxo…
I so loved doing the flowers for this Gala ! Nancy Swiezy Events
