Uptown Presents NAMAD Reception Cocktail Party
So last night after going out for drinks with a coworker, I headed to SOHO to a cocktail reception party for the National Association of Minority Auto Dealers hosted by Uptown Magazine at Parlor. Now I have been to Parlor before and I love the vibe. It really has the feel of 80s/90s New York party scene, you know the exclusive clubs, Studio 54, models and high rollers type of place. It also has the prices of that, last time I was there I believe I paid 17$ just for a margarita. So I knew this event would be a great networking event, but wasn’t trilled on going.
When I got there, I expected to be a little more crowded, but was pleased they had open bar and hors d’oeuvres. I kept wondering why wasn’t the place packed, but then my friend reminded me that across town the “Think Like A Man” premiere was going on, so most people probably went to that event.
Over all it was fun, primarily because of the DJ mixing 90’s hip hop and r&b with today’s hip hop and r&b, and also free drinks. Didn’t get to do all the networking I wanted to do, but did get a little closer to someone I meet at a previous event, so I can not complain.
Until next time xoxo
